The sex ratio in gambling is gradually changing, but there is still a long way to go before men and women are equally present in gambling, even with the fact that women are often found in casinos. So what does science say about this?

Until recently, most research on gambling has focused on studying players after their preoccupation with the game has become a problem or even turned into a pathology. The core elements of the game have not been emphasized, nor has the gender ratio of players. I think gambling companies would put a lot of effort into finding out the objective reasons why women are less likely to be addicted to gambling and become problem gamblers than men, and then study how to properly attract new players.

The following hypotheses can be derived based on the major themes of gambling research:

Men will gamble and have more problems than women.

This assertion supports earlier studies that show that men are more likely to participate in addictive (addictive) activities due to higher expectations of them. In addition, interestingly, men are much more likely than women to artificially underestimate the expected risks of gambling while perceiving inflated perceived benefits.

Gambling serves as a way for men to demonstrate their masculinity. This is because gambling gives players the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and courage under risky conditions. Thus, the main games for men are blackjack and poker, in which the player’s skills are important.

Presumably, with regard to differences between male and female gambling players, willingness to take risks plays a major role.
